Project: "Application of technical advances to develop tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Melaleuca quinquenervia with high yield and quality of essential oils in Vinh Phuc province"

Project: "Application of technical advances to develop Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Melaleuca quinquenervia with high yield and quality of essential oils in Vinh Phuc province" approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology at Decision No. 1525 / QD-BKHCN of the Minister of Science and Technology dated June 4, 2020 with the following main objectives:
1. General goal:
Successfully building a model to apply advanced techniques of planting and extracting tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Melaleuca quinquenervia (Melaleuca quinquenervia) in the value chain in order to increase income for people in Vinh Phuc province.

2. Specific objectives:
- Transfer and receive 02 technological processes for propagation of Melaleuca (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Melaleuca quinquenervia (Melaleuca quinquenervia); 02 technological processes for growing tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) and Melaleuca (Melaleuca quinquenervia) and 01 technical process for extracting essential oil;

- Building a model of propagation garden from top-of-the-line trees with a scale of 5,000m2, capacity of 200,000 trees / year;

- Building 10 ha of new planting models, including: 6 ha of Melaleuca alternifolia (Melaleuca alternifolia) and 4 ha of Melaleuca quinquenervia (Melaleuca quinquenervia). The yield of essential oil reaches 80 liters / ha / year after 2 years of planting.

- Oil distillation (extracting) equipment with a capacity of 800kg / batch. The output reached 800 liters of Melaleuca oil for both types, meeting ISO 4730: 2017 and Vietnam's V Pharmacopoeia.

- Branding for essential oils of Melaleuca and Melaleuca.

- Training technicians, training workers and people on propagation techniques, planting, extracting melaleuca oil (6 grassroots technicians and technical training for 150 people).
